According to the new policy for admission to IIT or other Institutes, there will be a Common Entrance Test for admission to IIT, NIT and IIIT. The candidates will have to appear in a MAIN TEST and then an ADVANCE TEST instead of IIT-JEE or AIEEE. According to the new policy, the marks obtained by the candidate in 10+2 examination will also be considered in the Admission Process. This decision was taken in a joint meeting of IIT, NIT and IIIT held on Monday at New Delhi. Kapil Sibbal, the Minister of Human Resources Development announced the changes made in the pattern.
According to the new pattern, the candidates willing to go for IIT will be given 50% for the marks obtained in 10+2 and 50% in the Common Main Test. After this, the top 50, 000 students will be called for Advance Test and out of these 50, 000 the final selection list will be prepared on the basis of Merit.
For the institutions other than IIT, the candidates will get a weightage of 40% for the score in 10+2, 30% for Main Test and 30% for Advance Test.
