आज केंद्र सरकार ने केबिनेट की बैठक में केंद्र सरकार के अधीन कार्यरत कर्मचारियों और पेंशनरों का महंगाई भत्ता 72% से बढ़ा कर 80% कर दिया है। दरअसल हर छह महीने के अन्तराल पर बढाए जाने वाले महंगाई भत्ते की घोषणा अप्रैल के पहले सप्ताह में की जानी थी, जिसे लेकर सरकारी कर्मचारी काफी प्रतीक्षारत थे। बीच में  यह कयास भी लगाए जा रहे थे कि सरकार संभवतः 50% डीए को बेसिक वेतन में मर्ज भी कर सकती है, लेकिन अंततः हुआ यह कि डीए को 8% बढ़ा दिया गया। बढ़ा हुआ डीए 1 जनवरी 2013 से लागू होगा।
